This originally was supposed to be an April Fool's joke, but I was late. Experimentation into seeing what other genres I could picture Asheru in, as well as playing with cover designs. Putting an old sketch, a lot of photoshop coloring (and innumerable layers) to placeher in a background, The building is in downtown San Mateo. Pen & Ink, with Photoshop mass construction. Scott A. Our first assignment in Illustration II this semester was to illustrate a single word, and to do it in a way so that it wasn't blatant nor achingly subtle. The word crocodiles kept cycling through my head- not as the word to illustrate, but as the subject matter- and so I chose "awkward" as my word and came up with the idea of a crocodile businessman bring home a wildebeest friend from work only to find his wife preparing exactly that for dinner. Heh. Awkward.

I did this to use in my portfolio stuff as a logo or theme. Thiel had suggested that we start 'branding' ourselves right away, so that clients can start associating our names with our art, that's important. Everything has this on it- my business card, my self-promo stuff, my letterhead, and my portfolios have it on every page, along with a handwritten 'signature.' It's not actually my signature, because my real signature's illegible, but I did write my name in brushpen in my 'legible' handwriting.
